Who was it that said Sprint was strapped for cash. And was their any question that sprint would let their Clear initiative fall flat. First off, they, Sprint has this echo space with devices makers, and millions of devices embedded with wimax, you don't just up and decide one day to drop what was the first 4G network ever. And let that billions already invested go to waste.
I need to re visit the fact that 802-16M has been approved by the IEEE just in the last two weeks or so. Now for those of you that are Clear subscribers, look on your box your modem came in, it says it is wimax 2 ready. And this is really going to be fast, 300mbps fixed, and 100mbps mobile. The IEEE said this is one of two technologies that is true 4G. the other is LTE, and with all the spectrum that team clear has, this is going to blow the sox off of LTE. And this is what makes AT&T nervous. It is also backwards compatible, with devices.
So be on the look out for some news to break very shortly about Clear finishing it's network with the M+2 equipment. So when 4G got it's truck roll on, there were limited devices to access the network, a desk top modem, and a dongle.
Today their are many devices. It was a tough sell, to spend billions building out the 4G network with limited devices. Now that we have matured a little, and devices are introduced on a daily basis, 4G is ready to rock and roll.
And with Sprint letting the world know, wimax is their technology, with this recent news of their one billion injection in their Clear brand. I think they pretty much solidified that wimax is here, and alive.
You need to keep your eye on Sprint, they are certainly going to make things interesting in the 4G space. I would not be surprised if google don't throw some funding in the pot. Google also has a 500 million investment in clear. So don't count Clear as out, or broke, we are just getting started with team go fast, faster, fastest.
The press needs to lay down for minute, and talk about the stuff that matters. I love the Internet for many reasons, their will be a record of the press, where they called sprint out, or a distant third. Sprint is getting tomorrow here fast with 4G. And is getting us to the 4G sweet spot. Consumers may still not know what all this means for them, but trust me, it is a very good thing.
