4G The Final Frontier Looks Good

I must say that I have been tied up with which direction to go here with all the super news in the 4G arena. Lets take a look at what 4G is up to now. Sprint has a lot of tough decisions with their network, with all that re provisioning of spectrum, and what technology to move forward with. I think they are on a path that will move them in an in front position, where they are able to upgrade with minimal amount of truck roll.

Now lets look at something that is really interesting to me. This Skype, Google, facebook bidding war. Before we get to far here, I made a prediction that facebook would integrate a video chat feature in their platform in Jan, and here is the blog tittled "What Is 4G". This is an interesting read, where I was trying to make the consumer more aware of what this 4G means, as their is some confusion on their part.

Now I do hope the voice carriers are fully aware of what this means. 4G is on this path of bringing down the voice that made these carriers billions. What we have learned here is this. Google is in the 4G space. And with recent news about the Sprint Google integration of google voice in this Nexus S 4G phone, we are moving away from this voice monopoly with some serious speed.

Now enter facebook wanting to integrate Skype in their platform, their is no question this is 4G again at work here. Of course this is also an explosion of smart phones blasting their way in the hands of consumers.

I can remember the days of CB radios, we had what was called a handle, aka, your radio name, mine was "Albatross", Their is a reason I'm bringing this up.
And Skype is this reason. And here is an old saying, "what is old is new again", I think that's how it goes.

Now as we move away from voice, we also discard numbers, no need for numbers. Now if facebook integrates Skype in their platform, we return to the days of handles, just like the days of the CB radio. What I'm eluding to here is how our choices will be changing soon. As Google, and facebook will be a dominant force in the communications space. Or the new and improved phone company that is free. Just a 4G wireless plan.

How this will look on facebook. First this makes the fb user keep their fb connection hot full time, and gives them options they have never had. live webinar's, live chat on your page, live news reports from around the globe, video, or audio chat, recorded messaging, text, and a text chat. leave your friends a recorded massage. it is truly endless possibilities.

I'm not sure what Google is doing, other than trying to keep the competition at a minimum, since this could really super charge facebook, as if they were not already. But since facebook has nearly 600 million users, they have a clear edge in the phone business, it's OK google they will be doing this through your android platform.

Friends, this is 4G, and the disruption continues. The voice carriers will be OK, they become 4G wireless providers. But their voice days are numbered. As google and facebook become the communications of tomorrow.
