Sprint Clear, Lightning Fast

When I read the news that Clear was handing off it's 4G management to Ericsson's, I felt that their was more news coming, and it did. The day after that news from clear outsourcing their 4G management, came some press about clear perhaps laying the ground work for some even bigger news, about their plans to rethink their path to LTE.

They fell short on pushing that news out as a for sure decision, But really lets look at this a little closer. Sprint has also outsourced their network management to Ericsson's as well, and they are in the business of advanced technologies, and Sprint has many to work with. The device side needs no help, it's ready when the back end falls in place. If LTE and wimax where able to co-exist today, their press would have already taken place at the Clear camps.

Wimax 2, or 802-16m was just to little to late, we may not see this technology here, but wait, we may, this is why they are taking this hold on for a minute approach. If LTE and Wimax can find this co-exist sweet spot, then the news will be that technology. Now if wimax 2 comes along and can work alongside, or co-exist with LTE, well lets just say look out world. the former number three, will look more like the new number one from where I'm sitting. And we know that Clear can blast out some bandwidth with that massive amount of spectrum. They do need to try to converge, and not upset the echo space.

Their is some news in the making here. They are going to have to take some action, as technology will not wait for them. They do need technology to move in their favor though. They simply can not just switch to another 4G technology in mid stream. We have had many talks on here about the day LTE and wimax converged, or co exist, and that day is coming soon, and that is what Sprint is hoping for. I am looking forward to this day as well. That will be the ultimate 4G play. And move Sprint in the driver seat to the fastest wireless speeds available for years to come.

I will also ad this, The other camps, the ones that bought the 700MHz. They have about 20MHz for their 4G. and clear will have a whopping 140MHz, able to run with 20MHz channels at 2.5GHz, this XXL data pipe will be tough to beat, running with an LTE path. I know their is a trade off here with propagation, I say so what. In the end bandwidth is all that matters to the end user. The best devices, running the best apps, will need the fastest network, and that network will be Sprint / Clear.

Here is an update to that article above
They can change technology mid stream if they so choose to. I am learning that these new devices are going to be embedded with many radios in their structure Wimax, LTE, EV-DO wifi, CDMA, and FM.blue tooth 3.0 GPS.
These radios will be able to hand off between wimax and LTE, So if they can seed the market with these devices, in a  few months they can start their build of an all LTE path. That can roam between wimax and LTE. This is the best move forward for sprint, if they had to make a decision today, this is the only path available that makes perfect sense. And the most economical choice available.
